Cancelling Cancel Culture with Judge Cheryl Allen

We were founded as a Christian nation and founded on Truth. If we don’t stand on that, we fall into deception, and eventually destruction.”

Reminiscent of Pennsylvania’s Founder, William Penn and many of America’s Founders, this is a direct foundational statement of truth from our featured Mission Report Podcast guest Judge Cheryl Allen.

A graduate of Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Judge Allen is the first black woman to be elected to the Pennsylvania Superior Court, where she served from 2008 until her retirement in 2015.

Presently serving as Counsel with the Pennsylvania Family Institute and the Independence Law Center, she candidly discusses her tireless fight to “Stop the Weaponization of the Cancel Culture” by protecting life, religious liberty, traditional marriage and parental rights.

Pro-Family School Choice = Dismantling Dept. of Education

In the preview clip above, Judge Allen explains why she has always favored dismantling the U.S. Department of Education. Her reasoned, pro-family educational choice position on this issue, pre-dates President Trump’s recent executive order by several decades.

Justice Served: ICE Saving Republic from INVASION

On Monday, at the close of Senate session, I spoke in support of the stepped up and ongoing efforts from Immigration Customs And Enforcement (ICE) to protect the lives of American citizens and secure our borders against the INVASION of foreign nationals.

Without question, the recent law enforcement actions taken by 𝐈𝐂𝐄 in California and across the nation are backed by the full authority of Article 4, Section 4 of the United States Constitution which stipulates that our government “shall guarantee to every state in this Union a Republican form of government and shall protect each of them against INVASION.”

To report criminal activity, call 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423).

Protecting Property Rights, Free Market Good Will Against Eminent Domain

Legislation I sponsored to protect and financially compensate targeted property owners against eminent domain abuse (Senate Bill 225) was unanimously approved (50-0) by the Pennsylvania Senate on June 10.

Pennsylvania’s eminent domain code sets into motion one of the most extraordinary and ominous wrecking-ball-powers of government: the authority to both condemn and confiscate private property.

Fully supported by the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, I have introduced this legislation to financially protect business and farm owners whose properties are seized through eminent domain by compensating for loss of goodwill.

With eminent domain seizures continuing to occur across Senate District 25, in Jan. 2024, I convened a Senate State Government Committee public hearing in Bellefonte, Centre County to receive testimony regarding eminent domain abuse and its impact on the private property rights of farmers, job-creating employers, and homeowners. The complete public hearing and submitted testimony can be viewed here.

A farm that sits on top of soil that has been meticulously cared for, cultivated, and enriched over generations and a restaurant thriving inside of a community that it has served for decades both have a great deal of goodwill amassed into their locations.

Forcing those operations to pick up and move destroys that goodwill. Whether it’s a family farm or a downtown pizza shop, these free-market enterprises deserve just compensation.

By ensuring that farmers and businesses are fairly compensated for any land they are forced to sell, my legislation seeks to restore the inherent and indefeasible rights of enjoying life and liberty, and acquiring, possessing, and protecting property in the pursuit of happiness as specified in Article 1, Section 1 of the Pennsylvania Constitution.

Ultimately, the purpose of this legislation is to make it much harder and more expensive for the government to confiscate private land. Senate Bill 225 now advances to the Pennsylvania House for consideration.

Welcome To Your State Capitol

On June 9, it was great to welcome nearly 100 scouts to the Capitol for Scouting America Day.

As part of their visit, Scouts open the Senate with a word of prayer, recite the Pledge of Allegiance and present the legislature with their annual report.

Off the floor, I had the privilege of meeting with several local scouts and their leaders from the Juniata Valley Council, Scouting America (Clinton County) and the Scouting America Susquehanna Council (Centre County) at my state Capitol office.

Bill to Expand Naloxone Access, Support EMS Providers Passes Senate

Legislation to strengthen emergency response efforts and help address Pennsylvania’s opioid crisis passed the Senate with unanimous support.

Senate Bill 95 would make permanent the temporary declaration allowing EMS personnel to give a dose of naloxone, commonly known as Narcan, to a caregiver or loved one of someone who has overdosed.

Although this life-saving medication has been approved for over-the-counter use, not all versions are readily available. This legislation would allow EMS providers to distribute any formulation at the scene of an overdose, including those still awaiting final approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It now heads to the House of Representatives for consideration.

Senate Approves Bill to Secure and Modernize PA’s IT Infrastructure

The Senate unanimously approved two cybersecurity bills to strengthen the commonwealth’s digital defenses.

Senate Bill 376 would ban TikTok from all state-owned devices and networks, citing national security risks. It would bring Pennsylvania in line with federal guidelines and action taken by more than 39 other states and State Treasurer Stacy Garrity.

Senate Bill 377 would require all state IT contracts to meet cybersecurity standards established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, a move aimed at protecting taxpayer-funded systems and reducing the risk of data breaches across state government.

Both measures now head to the House of Representatives for consideration.

Senate Committee Votes to Expand No-Cost Breast Cancer Screenings

Building on Pennsylvania’s landmark law that provides no-cost breast cancer screenings for high-risk individuals, the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee this week unanimously advanced legislation to expand diagnostic screening coverage.

Senate Bill 88 would make diagnostic screenings free for anyone who finds an abnormality on a supplemental screening. The bill expands the number of supplemental screenings available and ensures no-cost diagnostic imaging for patients.

It would ensure coverage for those at average risk of developing breast cancer and expand access to lifesaving early detection tools for many Pennsylvanians. The measure advances to the full Senate for consideration.

Happy Father’s Day!

On Sunday, we recognize the love, hard work and dedication of the dads and father figures in our lives. We appreciate their leadership that guides our families and shapes our lives. Warm wishes for a peaceful Father’s Day filled with cherished moments.
