ST. MARYS – More than $864,470 in Local Share Account (LSA) grant funding has been awarded to public works, community development and handicapped accessibility projects in Elk County, according to Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) and Rep. Mike Armanini (R-Elk).
“LSA grants are important investments for increased public safety and greater standards of living for residents of all ages,” Dush said. “Securing this highly competitive funding is a huge win for even more emergency responders, local governments, taxpayers and seniors living on fixed incomes who will not have to bear the economic burden for preserving historical landmarks, expanded handicapped accessibility, critical equipment upgrades and many other significant community improvement projects.”
“I commend our municipal leaders for their foresight in applying for these grants to improve services and the quality of life for the people within our local communities. Their work keeps our communities safe, connected and cared for,” Armanini said.
Approved Elk County LSA projects include:
- Jay Township, $145,280 to replace a dump truck.
- Jay Township, $46,000 to build a temperature-controlled shed to store wastewater equipment and other materials.
- Johnsonburg Borough, $304,990 to renovate the historic Armstrong Theater and incorporate a new public plaza.
- Marys City on behalf of the Benzinger Township Municipal Golf Course, $27,700 to replace the golf course’s wheelchair-accessible ramp.
- Marys City on behalf of St. Marys Area Ambulance Services, $340,500 to upgrade the ambulance services building.
LSA funds are generated under the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 71 of 2004), which provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the CFA support projects in the public interest across Pennsylvania. The CFA is an independent agency and administers Pennsylvania economic development programs and investments.
