Dush Confirms Centre County Emergency Responders to Receive $257,000 Funding Boost from LSA Grants

HARRISBURG – Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) announced today that two Centre County volunteer fire departments are set to receive more than $257,000 in Local Share Account (LSA) grants distributed by the Commonwealth Finance Authority (CFA).

“We need to do all we can to support our irreplaceable emergency responders,” said Dush. “I’m grateful this highly competitive grant program exists to defray some of the costs they incur while providing lifesaving services to our communities. I can think of no better way to invest these dollars—generated through local casino revenue—than to directly deliver much-needed financial assistance to the tremendously dedicated men and women who are selflessly sacrificing their own personal safety and quality time with their families to help friends and neighbors during their most desperate times of need.”

Howard Fire Company No. 1 has been awarded approximately $147,042 to purchase a quick response vehicle. The new apparatus will be equipped with the latest life-saving equipment for quick response in Howard Borough, and Howard, Marion and Curtain townships.

Snow Shoe Fire Company has been awarded approximately $110,000 to replace the HVAC system at the Snow Shoe Borough Fire Hall. The installation of this new energy efficient HVAC system will consist of a split system, platinum heat pump, oil fired boiler, and air quality upgrades with new electrical service and ductworks.

Act 71 of 2004 provides for the distribution of LSA gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects of public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
