Dush, Takac, Snow Shoe Officials Score Additional $75,000 in Economic Recovery Funding

HARRISBURG – Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) and Rep. Paul Takac (D-82) today announced the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has awarded $75,000 in additional state funding for Snow Shoe, Centre County.

Snow Shoe Township will apply this funding to cover the cost of recreational improvements to Snow Shoe Township Park. Specifically, the project seeks to improve park amenities at the 9.5-acre facility, most notably, the restoration of the existing baseball field with new dugouts and repairs to the infield and outfield surfacing.

“I’m beyond pleased that Rep. Takac and I have resolved to put partisanship aside to focus on the critical needs and priorities of the communities we serve,” said Dush. “We have consistently and proactively worked together with local officials to bring home more than $2.5 million in state funding throughout 2023 – and now $75,000 more to begin 2024 – all for the benefit of rural Centre County. Again, this is the direct result of placing people, job creation and economic recovery above political agendas to achieve a greater quality of life.”

The Commonwealth Financing Authority awarded the grant to renovate Snow Shoe Township Park on Jan. 16 through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program, which is funded by natural gas impact fees authorized under Act 13 of 2012.

“I am proud that once again, Sen. Dush and I have been able to move beyond partisanship and work together to benefit the Snow Shoe community,” said Takac. “This Greenways, Trails, and Recreation grant will help improve park amenities, including upgrades to the baseball field, playground, and pathways at Snow Shoe Township Park along Old Side Road. This investment will help enhance the health and well-being of Mountaintop residents for many years to come.”

In addition to the upcoming restoration of Snow Shoe Township Park, Dush and Takac have successfully partnered with Snow Shoe officials to secure highly competitive state funding for several other core infrastructure improvement projects. These include repairs to the Snow Shoe Township building, upgrades at the Moshannon Community Center, and the purchase of a new leaf collection truck for Snow Shoe Borough.
