HARRISBURG – Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) and Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) announced today the awarding of more than $1.1 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants for municipal projects in their districts.
“With so many hard-working families struggling with ever-rising costs and inflation, I am pleased to have played a role in securing this highly competitive funding for the citizens I serve in Centre County,” said Dush. “These grants are important investments in the safety and quality of life for residents of all ages. Securing this highly competitive funding is a huge win for even more homeowners, employers, schools and farmers who will not have to bear the economic burden for more than $1 million of critical infrastructure upgrades.”
Details of the grants are as follows:
• Miles Township – $140,815 for the purchase of a municipal work truck.
• Penn Township – $118,117 for the purchase of a truck with a snowplow and cinder spreader.
• Potter Township – $150,000 for replacement of Lake Road Bridge, which crosses Sinking Creek.
• Spring Township – $700,000 for the first phase of improvements to its community park.
“An important part of our jobs is to bring state funding back home, and these grants are an example of that,” said Benninghoff. “This funding is going toward public safety and infrastructure improvements that will benefit the residents of these municipalities.”
The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
