Dush, Armanini Announce Elk County Infrastructure Funding

HARRISBURG – Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) and Rep. Mike Armanini (R-Clearfield/Elk) today announced grant funding in Elk County released by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) totaling more than $900,000.

The CFA released two sets of grants: Small Water and Sewer (SWS), and Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF).

“The Commonwealth Financing Authority’s statewide grant programs are vital tools for local governments as they seek to cost-effectively improve or repair essential transportation or clean water infrastructure,” said Dush. “Thanks to this highly competitive financing, taxpayers and those living on fixed incomes will not have to bear the enormous price tag for these critical quality-of-life upgrades benefiting St. Marys’ Municipal Airport, Johnsonburg Borough and surrounding Elk County communities.”

“I am proud to have worked with local officials and Sen. Dush to deliver this important infrastructure funding to our district,” shared Armanini. “These grants are a significant investment in developing the infrastructure of our community and prioritizing health and safety.”

St. Marys City received an MTF grant over $526,000 for rehabilitation of the runway at the St. Marys’ Municipal Airport.

Elk County also received multiple SWS grants:
• Johnsonburg Municipal Authority received a grant of $100,000 for sewer rehabilitation at the community center on Center Street.
• Johnsonburg Municipal Authority received a grant of $100,000 to replace an asbestos pipe on Center Street.
• Johnsonburg Municipal Authority received a grant of $100,000 for groundwater well testing and development.
• St. Marys Area Water Authority received a grant of $100,000 for the purchase of a water meter.

The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation is available in the Commonwealth. The Small Water and Sewer Grant Program helps with the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system, or flood control projects. Both programs are administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
